Hello. My name is Sierra, like the Sierra Nevada mountains. I am a writer.

The Startnotebook
Authors really must have something in common because I too was one of those who hand wrote  bestsellers at an early age. I filled reams of Mead notebooks full of stories in high school and made my friends read them. One time my friend Anita and I left a notebook filled with stories in our high school geography class, and our teacher Ms. Barkly found it AND READ IT. And worse, she was a character in one of the stories. We called it “Pette Officer Barkly.” (Because she had a delivery style like a military officer….it was so embarrassing.) The next day, she said, “Girls, I think you left this here. Oh and ‘petty’ is spelled with a y, not an e.”

Cripes.

Where I'm FromSanta Cruz Lighthouse
I did most of my growing up in Santa Cruz, California, which is a very nice place. I spent three, more or less, years on the Greek island Santorini, where I scampered up goat trails and played among the olive tree orchards.  Now I live in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Writing
With an undergraduate degree in Art (Conceptual Design) and a master’s in English (Technical Communication), I required a career in which I could both write and design. I have therefore spent my professional life as a technical writer and a marketing communicator. This means that I write and design material.

I started writing fiction seriously after my whippersnapper was born. When I say seriously, I mean, “writing with fervor and gripping passion that obsessed me and drove me relentlessly towards completing novels.” And once I did, everything seemed to click into place. Writing fiction feels very natural and I really enjoy it.

Random Sierra Facts Hibs
I support the Scottish football (soccer) team, Hibernian FC, or the Hibs. Hibs are based in Edinburgh. Most weekend mornings during the season, I can be found shouting encouragement as I watch or listen to them play via Internet stream. Glory glory to the Hibees!

One of my secret dream jobs is a radio and club DJ.

My elbows are double-jointed. Mmm-hmm, it's really gross.
